We have been training together and will be running together so have decided to fundraise together!

Tessa's Story

I have admired and supported Ripon Community Link via Walled Garden products and events for years. It's a fantastic local charity. When they offered me the chance to complete my first official half marathon at The Great North Run, I jumped at it!

I have known families with young people who benefit from Ripon Community Link since I moved back to Ripon from time overseas over ten years ago. I love visiting The Walled Garden whether to buy my Christmas tree and their wonderful plants and produce, for events such as Apple Day, or just to drink coffee and eat cake in the lovely cafe.

I have also surprised myself by developing a love of running since I moved back to Ripon! To combine the opportunity for a first official half marathon at the amazing Great North Run with the opportunity to fundraise for Ripon Community Link, what could be better?

Annabel's Story

Parkruns got me into running.  My husband first experienced the Parkrun phenomenon at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan in 2012 and returned home from his tour enthusing about it. The first Parkrun I did in March 2014 was easily the furthest I've ever run in my life. I remember hobbling for about a week afterwards but (very) gradually improved my times and from a once a week even began a mid-week run and it went from there.

Running has given me deeper friendships and new friendships and is essential for mental wellbeing, giving a sense of perspective.

Please sponsor us and help us to reach our goal of £600.  All the money we raise directly supports the work of this wonderful charity.
