Volunteer roles

Ripon Community Link is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to fill the following volunteering roles.
The role descriptors are just a guide, all roles are flexible and there are no fixed hours. 
Our volunteers are required to undertake some basic training and to agree to operate within policies and procedures.

Volunteer gardener

Volunteer Role Descriptor
• To carry out general gardening duties to include weeding, mowing, tidying and planting.
• To help with seasonal jobs, such as pruning, hedge cutting, and leaf sweeping, fruit picking.
Ideal Skills and Experience
• Some previous experience or a love of gardening
• To be able to work on your own or as part of a team
Location
• Work will mainly be at our Walled Garden site, but occasionally at St Wilfrid’s Bungalow

Volunteer gardener supporting members 

Volunteer Role Descriptor
• To support and enable our members in their horticultural activities. Which might include:
• Growing and propagating plants.
• General garden duties, such as weeding mowing and tidying.
• Tool and equipment management.
Ideal Skills and Experience
• Some previous experience or love of gardening
• Enjoy working as part of a team and supporting others
• Patience and a sense of humor
• Experience of working with learning disabilities or in health sector would be beneficial but not essential.
Location
• Work will mainly be at our Walled Garden site, but occasionally at St Wilfrid’s Bungalow

Handyman

Volunteer Role descriptor- Possible Duties
• To provide general maintenance such as basic plumbing, mending broken appliances, minor repairs, carpentry, painting and wall pointing.
• Supporting events e.g Christmas Tree Sales site preparation
Ideal Skills and Experience
• A keen DIY enthusiast or previous experience in the building/ maintenance trade
• Ability to work independently
• Detail orientated
• Awareness of Health and Safety
Location
• Work will mainly be at our Walled Garden site.

Administration support

Volunteer Role Descriptor
• To assist the office and staff and management team with general administrative duties and administrative support. This role will be varied and might include, filing, processing mail, creating labels, entering data, etc
Ideal Skills and Experience
• Previous administration experience would be an advantage
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Confidentiality
Location
• Work will mainly be at our Walled Garden site

Fundraising and marketing

Volunteer Role Descriptor
Tasks may include;
• Delivering flyers and posters
• Building relationships, with local businesses etc.
• Asking for donations for raffles and tombola’s
• Supporting fundraising events as they arise
• Supporting other fundraising initiatives on an ad hoc basis
• Developing relationships
• Developing promotional literature
Ideal Skills and Experience
• Be a confident and clear communicator
Location
• Work will mainly be at our Walled Garden site and in the Community
 

Volunteer support assistant 

Volunteer Role descriptor
Our members take part in many activities, including, arts, crafts, singing, baking, sports, drama, walking and many more. We require volunteers to assist with these sessions.
Ideal Skills and Experience
• A caring nature, patience and a good sense of humor.
• Experience of working with learning disabilities or in health sector would be beneficial but not essential.
Location
• Work will mainly be St Wilfrid’s Bungalow site
