A Queen’s Breakfast

30 September 2026

A Breakfast fit for a Queen!

What a fabulous morning we had at our very special Queen’s Breakfast, where 25 guests were treated to an unforgettable experience with Colin Alderson, former pastry chef to Queen Elizabeth II.

Colin entertained us with wonderful stories from his time in the Palace kitchens, sharing fascinating recipes, memorable events and plenty of amusing anecdotes from his royal career. He also brought along a wonderful collection of memorabilia for guests to browse — and, to make the morning even better, donated a fabulous cake for us to raffle!

Guests then got the chance to get creative themselves with a hands-on fondant flower demonstration. Everyone got involved and produced some beautiful roses to take home.

No Queen’s Breakfast would be complete without a breakfast fit for a Queen! Fresh fruit, yoghurt and Walled Garden honey, was followed by smoked salmon bagels and bacon rolls – we think the Queen would have approved!

It was a truly special morning, and we were delighted to receive such fantastic feedback from our guests. Even better, the event raised an amazing £800 for Ripon Walled Garden!

This is the latest in a wonderful series of inspiring, creative and culinary events organised by our fantastic volunteer fundraising team, Heather and Diane, with help from Carolyn, Wendy and Jan.

Their 2027 events diary will be coming out shortly — watch this space for more details!

A huge thank you to the whole team for putting together such a fabulous event, and especially to Colin, who is such a wonderful supporter of the Walled Garden and generously gives so much of his time, talent and expertise. We are incredibly grateful.
