How we are Governed

Trustees have responsibility for Governance at Ripon Walled Garden. Together, they play a crucial role in guiding and overseeing the activities of our Charity, ensuring that we fulfil our mission and vision effectively and ethically and in the best interest of those we serve. They have several responsibilities:

  1. Strategy Trustees work together to establish the charities Strategic direction and goals, developing long term plans and ensure that activities align with our mission and values.
  2. Financial Oversight Trustees are responsible for managing the Charity’s finances prudently and oversee budgeting, financial reporting and ensure that resources are used efficiently to achieve charitable objectives.
  3. Legal Compliance Trustees ensure that the Charity complies with relevant law, regulations and best practice and uphold standards of governance, transparency and accountability.
  4. Risk Management Trustees identify and manage risks that could impact the charity’s operations or reputation. They implement policies and procedures to mitigate risks and safeguard the organization’s assets. They uphold standards of governance, transparency and accountability.
  5. Monitoring Performance Trustees monitor the charity’s performance against objectives, assessing the impact of our programs and activities. They review progress regularly and adjust as needed to ensure we remain effective and responsive to the needs of our beneficiaries.
  6. Supporting Leadership Trustees support the charity’s leadership team, providing guidance, feedback, and resources to help them succeed in their roles.
  7. Advocacy and Networking Trustees represent the charity externally, advocating for our cause and building relationships with stakeholders, partners, and donors.
